The Mantero Belard Award was awarded to Luísa Lopes and her team of researchers at the João Lobo Antunes Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Lisbon. The project uses "new age-based models to elucidate the mechanisms of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease".
"The goal is to improve the neurodiagnosis of Alzheimer's disease," said Luísa Lopes, noting that "Santa Casa Awards have changed the landscape of neuroscience in Portugal".
