This Wednesday, Instagram announced the launch in its application of new features facilitating its use by the visually impaired. With this new feature, screen readers will be able to describe photos automatically using the AI or by reading the custom descriptions (Alt Text) that users can add.
In messages without description, Instagram will be able to automatically identify the contents of the images with the help of object recognition technology to read an automatic description aloud when somebody miss. To add such descriptions, users will need to enter the advanced settings of the photo when republishing.
It should be remembered that Facebook already uses the AI to describe the photos intended for visually impaired users. Now, the feature that aims to increase the accessibility of the platform also returns to Instagram.
