In Brazil, the number of children with cancer decreases by 13%

Detection and early treatment are indicated as a cause of the decrease in the number of deaths.

The information was released Wednesday (28) by the Ministry of Health.

The index symbolizes a 10-year mark, since the agency has evaluated the data between 2006 and 2016.

The Mortality Information System (MIS) examined cases in children aged 0 to 14 years.

In the last year analyzed, the total number of deaths was 1,924, compared to 2,222 deaths in 2006.

Children under 1 year old had a 27% deaths due to the disease. The range from 1 to 4 years 9%.

The Ministry of Health estimates that the decrease in the number of deaths is due to early diagnosis that allows faster and more effective treatment.
