Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei has punished two employees who use an iPhone to wish a happy new year in a publication published on the Twitter account of the official social network of the company, announced a Chinese online portal.
In an internal memo, Huawei said he would demote an employee and cut his salary, while the second could not be promoted this year.
Although the publication, which indicated "via Twitter for iPhone", was removed, this action did not prevent its circulation in social networks through screen captures.
The error, as explained in Huawei's internal memo, has occurred in the Sapient marketing company.
The company's team has not been able to connect to VPN virtual private network – a mechanism used in China to circumvent cybercrime that blocks pages like Twitter, Facebook or Google – forcing employees to use their mobile phone with a SIM card. Hong Kong, which allows them to access these blocked pages in Chinese territory.
According to the memo, in this particular case, the visas used an iPhone with one of these cards to send the message on time, from the end of the year to midnight.
In the same note, the vice chairman of the company and director of the board of directors, Chen Lifang, will have been declared that the incident "caused damage to the Huawei brand". Recall that the brand is in tough competition with Apple, having surpassed the American last year as the world's second largest smartphone maker, just behind Samsung.
