Is this a laptop? Is it a tablet? No, it's the next Microsoft hybrid. This time in the Go version: less powerful, but lighter, smaller and cheaper. After in 2012, the American giant put on the market of the material in laptops with the line Surface, which had models with Windows in the complete version and in the version RT (a version also lighter and cheaper , but abandoned), thought for a Windows experience with touch screens and keyboard, the company has again an entry model in this segment.
Surface Go has a starting price of 400 euros (to add, as already is standard in these models, at least one hundred euros to have the keyboard with the mouse [ trackpad )). The size is 10 inches, smaller than the Pro models. Instead of betting on Intel Core i3 (the Pro input processors), the processor is a seventh-generation Intel Pentium Gold (4415Y). It is less powerful but according to the brand is what guarantees one of the advantages of these computers even with a smaller size: the battery (up to 9 hours).
Similar to previous models, in a bet that Apple has already followed, Surface Go will be compatible with Surface Pen, the Microsoft pen for writing and digital drawing. In addition, the novelty is the USB-C input, which rejects traditional USB, to connect peripherals and other connectable (in addition to the standard charging input of the surface).
The operating system that is installed in the device, similar to the Old Surface RT, is Windows 10 S (a plus version soft operating system) . However, keeping in mind what Microsoft has bet on its operating system, it is possible to switch to the normal Windows 10, making this notebook a true hybrid (it does what a tablet does and also, this that a "normal" laptop can do, in the same way.)
In 2012 and 2013, the focus on RT models was largely focused on students. With this more affordable model, Microsoft will be on the same path, in direct competition with Apple's latest 9.7-inch iPad, which has the education program to buy cheaper. It will be available with 64 GB (eMMC, slower than SSD), with 4 GB of RAM and, in a higher model, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory.
On the official website of Microsoft for Portugal not yet there is information on whether it will be available for Portugal and at what price. As of the date of publication of this article, the company has not replied to this question to the observer. According to PPlware, this model is expected to arrive in Portugal in the month of August.
