The sad statistics on dengue lives in Bauru have further increased. On Friday (14), the municipal health department confirmed seven more deaths due to the disease, for a total of 28 deaths this year alone. The total number of cases has also increased from 22,400 official documents. Despite the tragic situation, the worst epidemic of dengue fever in the city's history – both in case of lethality and in number of cases – has stopped, with a significant drop in reports. To give you an idea, June had only eight suspicious occurrences until the 10th.

The seven deaths confirmed yesterday are elderly. There are five men and two women whose age varies between 69 and 89 years.

According to the analysis of the municipal health department itself, they converge with the majority profile of deaths remaining this year due to dengue fever. "With regard to deaths, they have occurred mainly in the elderly and with basic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease," says the ministry, revealing that the average range of these death is 75 years old.

Health completes the fact that the average length of stay to death was 6.9 days, while 86% of deaths had major underlying diseases (see the profile of victims in the graph below). above).

The sad thing is that this sad statistic of Bauru families who mourn the loss of their loved ones is likely to increase even more. In addition to the 28 deaths, the Adolfo Lutz Institute (IAL) – São Paulo continues to investigate other suspicions.

A few weeks ago, however, the briefcase stopped specifying the number of suspicious deaths being investigated.

MORE LETHAL

Prior to 2019, the years with deaths from illness were 2011 (six deaths), 2013 (two), 2015 (six) and 2016 (one). Thus, all the added years have killed 15 people, nearly half of the 28 deaths this year.

The number of deaths also attracts attention compared to other states. The latest epidemiological bulletin published last Tuesday shows that in the entire federal district, the number of deaths is 26.

ROUNDS IN HOUSES

Public authorities have been working on various fronts to try to contain the dengue epidemic, with clean-up efforts (which have already eliminated tens of tons of materials likely to accumulate water), home visits and fines, as well as several other actions.

Even in this case, the participation of the population at home is fundamental in the fight against the mosquito. One of the campaigns is "the 10 minutes against the Aedes". Developed by the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (CIO / Fiocruz), it is based on a weekly tour of 10 minutes on several points.

The city spends 22,400 records of the disease, however, new suspicious cases collapse

In addition to the seven deaths, the municipal health department released Friday more than 2,491 cases of indigenous dengue fever. Bauru already has 22,484 records, of which 22,452 are indigenous and 32 are imported.

According to the prefecture, these confirmed cases had symptoms yesterday between January 13 and April 20 this year, that is, most of the longer period of infestation.

The municipality adds that new notifications (suspected cases of the disease) have significantly decreased.

According to the record, 12,434 notifications were received in March, their volume dropped to 7,018 in April and 1,315 in May. In June, to get an idea, there are only eight suspected cases on the 10th (see chart).

Even though the town hall indicates the downward trend, the total number of cases remains alarming. To get an idea of the intensity of this epidemic, 2019 already has more than double the 2015 official data, a period with previous cases of the disease. That year, 8,482 people with dengue fever were counted.

8.6% of the country's deaths

The Ministry of Health, through its communications department, has announced that 325 deaths have been reported nationwide, with Bauru alone accounting for 8.6% of the total lethality in Brazil. . According to Ministry data, 130 deaths occurred this year in the state of São Paulo. Thus, the number of deaths in Bauru is 21.5% of the total state.
