The Galaxy J family is the best-selling smartphone line in Latin America, and Samsung continues to bring news of the brand's cheapest models. Before the World Cup, the company introduced the J4, which still has the 16: 9 screen, and the J6, which already adopts the new 18.5: 9 ratio.

On Monday, July 30, the company brought a new variant of this second and complete the line with the J8. Advanced model of the trio, the device arrives with the same processor of the Galaxy A6 Plus – and Moto G6 – in addition to the same amount of memory.

Galaxy J8

The big star on Monday morning is the Galaxy A8. The new device is designed next to the J6, but with more screen, reaching 6 inches in the 18.5: 9 ratio. The panel uses Super AMOLED technology.

The back has a metallic finish in a simple design, with a dual camera that allows the user to take pictures with Dynamic Focus. Below are the cameras, a fingerprint reader. On the front, the camera self-watched with the help of an adjustable LED flash.

The hardware (see the datasheet at the end of the story) is the same as the Galaxy A6 Plus, but the J8 uses HD +. Which, oddly enough, can help the device to provide better performance and more battery life. But we will see that soon in our tests.

The Samsung experience comes in version 9.0 here on the J8, with Android 8.0 Oreo and features such as Dual Messenger, Secure Folder and wearable Samsung support and health app. In addition to the pair of applications, it allows you to open two applications at once, already dividing the screen, and the Samsung Cloud, to keep a backup of your device and photos with 15 Go free.

J8 has dual camera at the back, being the 16-megapixel main sensor and the secondary only 5 MP. This second lens is only used for Dynamic Focus, a name given by Samsung to the function also called Portrait or Bokeh Effect.

We tested Dynamic Focus very quickly and noticed that it does not work as well as on more powerful devices. from Samsung. The scene becomes blurry in a strange way, and the object on the photo also becomes a little blurry. You can see some examples of photos in the gallery below.

The auto-camera is quite reasonable, and should appeal to users looking for handsets in this price range.
