Home These are the phones that emit more radiation

[ad_1]

Nowadays and for most people, the smartphone is accessible 24 hours a day. It's in your pocket while you're at work, between your back home and the bedside table when you go to bed. What about radiation?

We are getting closer to our mobile phones

With this level of closeness and use, many can not get rid of the feeling that they may have long-term problems.

Although there is not yet conclusive study on the effects of mobile phone radiation on people, everyone has the feeling that the word radiation is usually never a good thing.

A new infographic from a German public body reveals equipment that emits more radiation

Incidentally, a new Internet infographic has arrived. In practice, it reveals which equipment emits the most radiation. Do not forget that we usually pressed them against our ear during a call. Of course, if we do not use headphones.

The German Federal Radiation Protection Organization (Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz) has a comprehensive database of smartphones – new and old – as well as the level of radiation they emit.

According to the criteria defined for this graphic (see footnotes), the current smartphone generating the highest level of radiation is the Xiaomi Mi A1, followed closely by the 5T Chinese manufacturer OnePlus.

In fact, the top of the list is dominated by devices manufactured by Chinese companies. OnePlus, Huawei and ZTE are responsible for 9 of the 15 phones with the highest values.

Apple smartphones such as the iPhone 8 also appear on the list

It should be noted that Apple devices such as the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 8 are also on the radiation list.

Although there is no universal guideline for a "safe" level of radiation, the German environmental certification "Der Blaue Engel" (Blue Angel) certifies only devices with a rate of absorption. Specifically below 0.60 watts per kilogram.

All the equipment featured in this infographic has more than doubled in these measurements.

This brings us to very important questions. Do these radiations cause cancer? And the new 5G?

The word radiation reminds us of many dangers and even nuclear bombs. Although this is totally false, there are some very safe forms of radiation. In fact, we are constantly bombarded with radiation, like the cosmic rays of the sun.

There is a big difference between safe radiation and the most dangerous forms found in Chernobyl or X-rays. It's the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation occurs at longer wavelengths than ultraviolet rays, also known as X-rays and gamma rays. This can damage your DNA, removing the electrons found in the base molecules, causing tumors and cancer.

Low frequency radio waves, such as those used in LTE mobile networks, are not ionizing. In other words, they can not cause the same type of damage. However, some non-ionizing wavelengths can still cause damage. It is that they produce heat with an extremely high power level.

The safety limit imposed, for example, by the FCC on smartphones imposes a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of 1.6 watts per kg (1.6 W / kg) of mass, that is, to say that he can under no circumstances heat his body. In Europe and most countries other than the United States, the limit is about 2.0 W / kg. These are the absolute legal limits of exposure. In most cases, real-world values are significantly lower.

Can mobile phones cause cancer?

Many studies have examined whether electromagnetic radiation from radio frequencies (RF EMR) can affect healthy people. First of all, a study of a 2009 study and the 2010 Interphone study summarized the lack of conclusions on this topic. Meanwhile, in 2011, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that smart phones were a class 2B carcinogen, which means the technology could be linked to cancer. This does not necessarily mean that the level of exposure of commercial products is dangerous. Other class 2B carcinogens include pickles, extract of aloe vera leaves.

There have been no conclusive results indicating that mobile technologies are really dangerous for humans, although it seems to be the opposite. Is it a simple study on the Internet or a bad reading of a study that can turn into a snowball in social networks?

What about the 5G and mmWave? What is the impact of radiation?

There is no convincing evidence linking cancer to mobile devices. But what about 5G? Is it now? Do not look like that. Most of these frequencies use low frequency bands and Wi-Fi, so there is no new risk. At the same time, mmWave technologies are not yet close to harmful ionization wavelengths for the body.

The MmWave will be mainly implemented in the spectrum of 24 to 29 GHz, which suffers from very high reflection rates. As a result, energy absorption is limited to the superficial layers of the skin, rather than the deeper tissues affected by low frequencies. The bones or the skull are safe. So, stop worrying about brain tumors.

In the United States, FCC safety regulations apply up to 100 GHz. As a result, mmWave 5G devices are subject to the same security standards and power limitations as existing 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi products.

The technology seems to be safe. At the same time, these regulations are already covered by the current regulations of the FCC and the European agencies. Nevertheless, 180 scientists from around the world signed a petition in September 2017 calling for delaying the deployment of the 5G network in the European Union until the health effects have been studied in more detail. In this sense, more studies on 5G would be important.

But what do you think of this question of radiation? Tell us everything in the comments.
