The judges meet Wednesday on the third day of the strike with the judgment to cover the courts of commerce, enforcement and administrative and tax courts of Mirandela and Penafiel as well as magistrates.
According to a statement by the Association of Portuguese Judges Trade Unions (ASJP), the strike is also now affecting the judges of the high court sections that meet on Wednesdays.
The ASJP also recalls that witnesses and other parties summoned for trials or other proceedings may be entitled to compensation for travel expenses and compensation payable by the State, in accordance with the legislation in force.
The 21-day intermittent strike, which took place between November 20 of this year and October 2019, concerns the process of revision of the Statute for Magistrates (EMJ), which the trade union association considers incomplete.
The trade union association understands that judges can not accept a status that does not adequately guarantee the development of the independence of the judiciary, nor the resolution of career blockages for nearly three decades, thus prolonging, to social costs useless, a conflict raging too long
