Astronomers believe that these satellites are the result of collisions with other celestial bodies, each taking about two years to complete the orbit. Two other moons belong to a neighboring group that rotates in the direction of rotation.

The researchers believe that they must have belonged to a larger moon that broke, taking about a year to circle the planet.

Another moon has an "eccentric" trajectory: it crosses that of moons in orbit in opposition to rotation. The moons were first seen in March of last year by astronomers from the Carnegie Institute for Science in Washington, USA.
