Lenovo launches Smart Display with Google Assistant

Smart columns are gaining popularity, but home assistants with monitors are still rare. Amazon explores this niche with the Echo Show and now Lenovo wants a share of the market by presenting the Smart Display with Google Assistant . The device visualizes all your questions and answers and gives you step by step instructions for cooking.

This Lenovo Smart Display Display is basically the Google wizard with screen. It has the Qualcomm Home Hub platform, based on Snapdragon 624 with an octa-core processor, 4GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. It also supports video calling via Google Duo and Wi-Fi 802.11ac networks.

There is a 5MP camera on the front that supports video recording up to a resolution of 720p. As it is located in our home, Lenovo thought about privacy and provided the physical shutter that hides the camera, as well as a key to turn off the microphone.

Smart Display works with Google Assistant of a well-known form, but now can also show some pictures. After "Hello, Google, hello," we received weather and traffic information for our daily route, instead of simply dictating Google's already-known smart columns.

Purchasing this device will receive YouTube Premium for 3 months. Smart Display can also play content from HBO Now, Spotify, Pandora, Google Play Music, and YouTube Music. Of course, it also reads podcasts and audiobooks, although nothing happens on the screen while using these apps.

Lenovo Smart Display arrives with an IPS display of 8 "or 10" and will cost about 170 or 213 euros. It can be purchased from the company's website, but it is expected that shipping will only begin in August for both variants. The front of both versions is white, but the smaller version has a gray plastic cover on the back, while the 10 "has a wood-like texture.
