The Chamber of the capital will launch Wednesday the campaign "that HIV is in our hands", in order to "raise awareness of the population" in the prevention and transmission of the AIDS virus.
According to information provided to the Lusa agency by the municipality, the initiative "Lisbon, AIDS Free City" will launch this campaign, which begins with a collaboration between the "House of Lisbon and the Activists Group" in treatment, with the support of the Directorate General of Health, the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and other associations and entities working in the field of HIV and AIDS.
"The main objectives of this campaign are to sensitize the population of the city of Lisbon to the prevention and transmission of HIV and increase the visibility of the issue of HIV and AIDS," says the note addressed to Lusa , adding that the initiative also meant "reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with living with HIV infection."
The campaign, which will be published on posters, leaflets and videos, is structured around four themes: "infection screening, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis and" undetectable = non-transferable ", a real character who recounts his experience and explains the importance of each of the chosen themes. "
The videos will be posted on the official website of the campaign and camera, as well as on social networks, while the leaflets "will be distributed in strategic locations," the municipality said.
Quoted in the statement, Manuel Grilo (BE), social rights advisor of the City of Lisbon, stresses that "it is crucial to increase the visibility of the HIV problem and to encourage people to perform regular screenings ".
