December is the month of skin cancer prevention. In order to promote awareness, the December Orange launch the National Campaign for the Prevention of Skin Cancer. Nova Friburgo is taking part in a simultaneous action in all countries organized by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology on Saturday, December 1st. Dermatologists will be present from 9h to 15h at Sylvio Henrique Braune Post, in Suspiro.
A team of five dermatologists will do free preventative screenings during the event. The organizers ask interested persons to visit the premises no later than 3 pm The intention of the group is to serve as many people as possible. During consultations, doctors will examine any imperfections in order to detect possible skin cancers and will continue to ask questions about pimples and abnormal changes in the body.
In Brazil, the type of skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the population. Everyone is prone to the disease. Therefore, information, associated with the adoption of simple habits such as the daily use of sunscreen, reduce the risk of occurrence of carcinoma.
Changes in blemishes, changes in shape, color, size, itching and wounds that do not heal are symptoms of skin cancer. There are risk factors that need more attention and must be observed, such as family history, continued exposure to the sun and age.
