VACCINE

Petrópolis achieved 85.6% of vaccinations during the 21st influenza vaccination campaign. With 37 days of care, including D-Day vaccine intensification and the extension period, 84,415 doses were applied in the 40 health units of the municipality. Among the priority public to receive the vaccine, those who had the highest number of participants in the vaccination rooms were the teachers, with 112% of the public immunized. During this period, the municipality received 109,400 doses of the vaccine, which has been available since last Monday (June 17) for the entire population.

Followed by teachers, vaccination in the elderly was 91.3%; among health workers, 88.2%; patients with chronic diseases, 81.8%; women in the first 45 days postpartum, 80.4%; children 72.7%; and, with a lower attendance rate in the vaccination rooms, are pregnant with 69.1%. "After the extension of the vaccination period, we were able to increase the vaccination rate in the municipality, bringing us closer to the 90% coverage target set by the Ministry of Health," said Secretary of Health Fabíola Heck.

The goal of the Ministry of Health was to vaccinate 98,550 people in the priority group. According to this estimate, 14,135 people in this higher risk population, who can still receive the dose through the public network, are still vaccinated as long as the vaccine is available to the general population. "It is very important that the most vulnerable people are immunized to avoid health complications in winter, when cases of respiratory diseases are increasing," said the Secretary of Health.

The municipality has received all doses for vaccination in the municipality. The 40 vaccination rooms will continue to be used until the end of the inventory. The trivalent flu vaccine immunizes the population against both types of influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and one type of influenza B. Petrópolis has recorded cases of the disease this year. To date, there have been 29 suspected H1N1 cases, six are awaiting results, 21 have been thrown out for the H1N1 flu virus, and two cases – of which the patients have died – have been confirmed H1N1.

Of the health facilities that apply the vaccine, most work from 8am to 5pm. Some units that operate with extended hours, where calls are made until 20:00, the time for the application of the vaccine is until 19:00.

In four units – health center, center; UBS Retiro, Quitandinha and Moselle – vaccination takes place over a prolonged period until 19h. UBS Moselle operates on extended hours Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The others follow the hours from Monday to Friday. In these places, there may be an interval in vaccinations, from 16:30 to 17:00, for the exchange of guard teams. Among the units for which the vaccine is applied, we find:
