The PS condemned the statements of Miguel Albuquerque, president of the regional government, on higher education, in which he declared that "this very Portuguese idea of ​​small doctors and engineers is out of date".

"These words are regrettable and reveal a government and a PSD which, contrary to what it claims, shows no concern or respect for the schooling of the population and the future of the young people of Madeira", said Victor Freitas, head of the Parliament of PS Madeira.

For the Socialists, these statements are offensive to those who "invested in their training" and declared that their future was in question because of the "erroneous policies" followed by the regional government.
