PSD and CDS councilors in Lisbon voted against the socialist autarky proposal to call the onion field "Largo José Saramago". The councilors decided at an executive council meeting that the width of Casa dos Bicos will be called Largo José Saramago.
The proposal was presented by Councilor Catarina Vaz Pinto and was voted on at the sitting of the House on Wednesday afternoon. Official source of the city of Lisbon confirmed at the Saturday that the socialist proposal to rename the onion field was approved.
PSD counselor João Pedro Costa said in statements to the newspaper Observeron Wednesday that the party opposes this decision because "consubstancia a lack of respect for the history and memory of the city to which the name of José Saramago does not deserve to be associated ".
