In October 2017, the then State Secretary for Energy announced that the social gas bottle intended for economically vulnerable families would be implemented this year as part of a pilot project in partnership with the Spanish oil company Cepsa.
This solidarity gas distribution network will have to be assimilated to the local authorities, that is to say that it will have to be projected outside the traditional distribution network, whereas the attribution criteria should be similar to the social tariff for electricity and natural gas, which currently benefits some 840,000 families.
Cepsa announced in late May that it was waiting for the government's approval to launch the pilot project for a social gas cylinder, but expects the measure to be implemented this year. , at a price of around 18 euros per bottle.
