The Santa Casa Neurosciences 2018 Awards on Wednesday highlighted two projects in the field of vertebral-muscular rehabilitation and the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Each project receives 200,000 euros.
The Melo e Castro 2018 Award was presented to Nuno Sousa and his research team at the University of Minho for the project "Thertact-Exo: Exoskeleton Controlled by Brain Activity for the Rehabilitation of Vertebrae and Chromosomes".
As for the 2018 Mantero Belard Award, Luísa Lopes and her research team at the João Lobo Antunes Institute of Molecular Medicine have received the project "Using New Age-Based Models for the Future". elucidation of the mechanisms of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease ".
The Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security was present at the award ceremony held at the Thalia Theater in Lisbon.
