As agreed with Feijó Town Hall, the public prosecutor's office and the municipal council, the government fulfills its support role by intensifying the activities of the municipality against the Aedes aegypti, transmitter of dengue, zika and chikungunya.
Through the State Department of Health (Sesacre), began on Monday 26, the spray application in the municipality, which is in a state of emergency.
After an evaluation of the Department of Environmental Health Surveillance of Sesacre, it was highlighted the need for a spatial application of aerosol insecticide, better known to the population by smoke.
"Priority is given to the five neighborhoods affected by other mosquito epidemics. We arrive with the intervention until December 10 and, in addition to spraying, with the support of the mayor, home visits and local radio announcements are underway to guide the public about the risks of mosquitoes and how to prevent them, "says Dorian Jinkins, Endemic Surveillance Technician.
When spraying, residents, especially children, are advised not to stand in front of the car and expose themselves directly to the product because it is a poison.
"It's a strategy that lasts an average of 15 days, because we do three cycles, and during the assessment, neighborhoods and areas of higher risk were studied and smoke is applied in those places. For the strategy to be successful, we count on the support of the people, because we have to open the houses and let the smoke penetrate, "says the head of the Department of Environmental Health Surveillance and Control of Endemic Species. Sesacre, Marília Carvalho.
It is important to remember that smoke kills the mosquito, but the larvae or eggs that settle in the yard, plastic vase or bottle cap do not die. It is therefore necessary to deal with the site and other areas that may lead to the proliferation of Aedes.
