The construction of the Lisbon metro subway line requires the train to be moved between Santos and Cais do Sodré for 44 months, according to the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA), to which Lusa had access on Wednesday.
The workforce, which will occupy the public road "for about 44 months", will also result in "major disruptions of road and pedestrian traffic in the surrounding streets," says EIA. The report proposes that during the construction phase, one of the train lines be diverted north on 24 de Julho Avenue and the other on the Lisbon Port.
"However, it is not clear how this change will affect the transit of motor vehicles, which is the reduction of the capacity of the track, what is the reduction of the parking capacity in the different areas and if there is an alternative to present to residents of affected areas, "read in the DIA. The DIA suggests that "the intervention programs are duly programmed, planned and authorized" by the Municipal Department of Mobility and Transport of the Lisbon City Council.
According to the DIA, the construction site located between D. Carlos I Avenue and 24 de Julho Avenue "lacks analysis and prior notice on packaging". The Portuguese Environmental Agency (APA) on Tuesday released a favorable conditional DAY for the project, which creates a circular line in the Metropolitano of Lisboa and links the Rat to Cais do Sodré.
With these works, a circular line is obtained from the Campo Grande with the lines Verde and Amarela, the remaining lines forming radial lines – Yellow Line (Odivelas to Telheiras), Blue Line (Reboleira – Santa Apolónia) and Red Line (S Sebastião – Airport).
The extension represents "an investment of € 210.2 million, and the works are to be launched by the end of the first half of 2019", with a planned implementation period of 68 months (until 2023), according to the state budget proposal for 2019.
