On the occasion of World AIDS Day, to be held on December 1, the Secretariat for Browser Health is conducting a series of actions to prevent and diagnose early viral and / or sexually transmitted diseases, such as that HIV, syphilis and Hepatitis B and C. Saturday, the basic health facilities and the Center for Counseling and Epidemiology – CETA will be open from 8:00 to 17:00 for rapid tests for detection or not of these diseases.

According to CETA coordinator, nurse Helena Soares, the alert is valid for people who have had unprotected sex or who have shared needles and syringes, needles and piercing objects reusable and that could have been infected with syphilis, hepatitis B and C or HIV. . In the case of rapid HIV testing, only a few drops of finger-stick blood are used with portable equipment. In case of a positive result, the CETA team provides all the advice and follows up on the patient. The result is stealthy, only the patient has access.

The coordinator pointed out that screening for HIV syphilis and viral hepatitis is also recommended for all pregnant women, preferably during the first trimester. Pregnant woman does not have access to adequate prenatal care, diagnosis can be made in the third trimester or even at the time of delivery. Pregnant women who experience infection during prenatal care have access to treatment that prevents vertical transmission, that is, from mother to child.
