Striker Kristaps Porzingis of the Dallas Mavericks was involved in a bloody altercation this weekend at a club in his hometown, Liepaja, Latvia.
"We understand that Kristaps was skipped and assaulted in front of a club in Latvia and we will provide an update if necessary," said the team in a statement.
A source told ESPN that the Mavericks had realized that several Russians had attacked Porzingis, who fought back before the club's security broke the fight.

TMZ reported that the men who attacked Porzingis were unhappy that he left the New York Knicks, who traded it to the Mavericks on Jan. 31, in part because the star player was unhappy with franchise.
