There is a “possibility” that Brian Laundrie was injured in the vast Florida wildlife sanctuary as double searches continue for him and his missing girlfriend Gabby Petito, police told The Post on Sunday.
Laundrie, 23, was last seen on Tuesday after telling his family he was going for a hike, the relative told cops on Friday, sparking a massive manhunt in the Carlton Reservation near 25,000 acres in Sarasota County.
“As for getting hurt in there, we don’t know one way or the other. I think that’s definitely a possibility, ”said North Port Police spokesman Josh Taylor.
“Doesn’t anyone think it’s possible that he went over there and shot himself in the head?” Of course, “Tayor said, adding:” We have no information on where he is. “
The search for laundry by the FBI and about 50 law enforcement personnel began on Saturday, with no sign of the man’s disappearance.
Meanwhile, police said Laundrie’s parents picked up their Ford Mustang left on the reserve – and the car had been spotted parked in the driveway of their North Port home over the past few days.
Laundrie was identified as a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance last week after returning home on September 1 after their trip across the country.
Petito, 22, was reported missing on September 11 by her family, who have not heard from her since late last month.
Authorities from several agencies are now looking for her in Wyoming and Utah.
