TRADE, Georgia – A postman was shot and killed while patrolling a rural highway in northeast Georgia on Saturday.
The Banks County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to reports of a person shot dead on Hebron Road in Commerce around 9:30 a.m.

MPs said the victim was delivering mail when he was shot. He later died of his injuries.

MPs did not identify the postman and said the incident appears to be isolated. There is no apparent threat to the community, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities have not disclosed any information on potential suspects.
