Two new members of the U.S. Postal Service’s board of governors criticized the agency for its plan to slow the delivery of first-class mail.

Ronald Stroman, one of three new members of President Biden’s board of directors, on Friday called the plan “strategically ill-conceived,” according to a report.

Another new member, Anton Hajjar, worried about a proposed plan to end air mail delivery, saying the potential savings were not “quantified”.

Stroman, a former deputy post minister, told the board of governors meeting that the country was only beginning to emerge from a global pandemic and that first-class mail delivery was well below pre-crisis levels. pandemic.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced his ten-year postal service restructuring plan in March. The cost reduction plan includes streamlining operations and reducing dependence on air service for mail delivery.
