A massive blackout, allegedly caused by a transformer fire at West 64th St and West End Ave, Fox News reports, wreaked havoc in Manhattan on Saturday night (7/13). The metro service on each line is affected, and several stations have been completely closed, including the 59th St Columbus Circle, 47-50th Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, the 34th St-Hudson Yards and the 5th Av / 53rd Street. from the infamous 1977 NYC Blackout.
On Broadway, most shows were canceled for the night, including the Saturday night edition of Dave ChappelleBroadway residence at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater. The only Broadway sites to remain open are the Winter Garden Theater, the Nederlander Theater and the Lyceum Theater, according to the same source. NYPD. The Broadway League advises ticket holders to contact their point of sale for information on refunds and exchanges.
At Madison Square Garden, Jennifer LopezThe Saturday evening program was evacuated for security reasons after the breakdown, The Hollywood Reporter said.
