Someone is nearly $ 700 million richer after the sale of a winning Powerball ticket in California.
Monday’s winning jackpot ticket – the numbers 12, 22, 54, 66, 69 and the Powerball of 15 – was sold at a grocery store in Morro Bay, on the coast near San Luis Obispo, the California Lottery reported on its website.
The jackpot climbed to $ 699.8 million, making it the fifth in Powerball history and the seventh in US lottery history, the lottery reported.
No one has won the jackpot since June, the game’s officials said, which means it has been growing steadily.
After no one won the jackpot on Saturday, it rose to $ 670 million, but strong sales pushed the jackpot to $ 699.8 million, Powerball said in a statement.
Monday’s lucky break for the ticket holder comes just over a month after the Monday draws started. This third day was added at the end of August. Previously, designs were done twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The $ 699.8 million is estimated if the winner takes an annuity. If taken in cash, the prize is $ 496 million.
