With the launch of Powerbeats Pro on Wednesday, AppleInsider compares the all-new, fully wireless headset to the new AirPods to help you choose the right headset for you.

First, let's see the all-new Powerbeats Pro.

These headphones are much safer with adjustable ear hooks to keep them in place. Because of their training-oriented nature, these shoes are also sweat and water resistant and offer protection against marathon racing or rain.

Connectivity is provided by the H1 audio chip, the same as that used on the latest generation of AirPod. This technology uses Class 1 Bluetooth 5 audio for exceptional range and connectivity, as we have already seen with the AirPods. Using the same chip, Beats allowed the "Hey Siri" feature to control everything only by voice. Powerbeats retains physical controls, so you do not have to feel like you're constantly talking to yourself at the gym.

One of the main advantages of Powerbeats Pro is the battery life. They are able to use up to nine hours of continuous use on a single charge, compared to five hours with the AirPods. If you put them back in the holster for a quick addition, you can get a total of 24 hours of use, identical to the AirPods, before they are connected.

Speaking of which, the battery case for Powerbeats is not wireless and must be plugged with the supplied Black Lightning cable. When you place the earpieces in the holster, five minutes are enough for an hour and a half of use.

We can not confirm much about sound quality until we have the headphones in hand or by ear, but they also seem to offer better audio quality than the AirPods, according to the eulogistic statements. Apple. An "improved linear piston driver that uses efficient, pressurized airflow to create a powerful acoustic response in a small package," reads the Powerbeats Pro web page, but it's unclear what that means for the moment. This will definitely be a test for us as soon as the headphones are available.

Powerbeats Pro will be available in four colors (black, navy, ivory and foam) during shipping.

New AirPods

The new Apple AirPods 2, which we have already reviewed, resist quite well compared to Powerbeats Pro without a few essential points. First, the battery life will be shorter for a single session. This may be important for you or not if you plan on using your headset more than five hours. If this is not the case, it is a wash between Powerbeats Pro and AirPod.

AirPods wins in terms of portability. They are smaller and more compact, while being more convenient thanks to the optional wireless charging case. We love the wireless charging box and we are tired of giving it up for the Powerbeats Pro.

At $ 159, the AirPods are a bit cheaper than the Powerbeats Pro, which will cost $ 249.

Which one to choose?

The decision to jump on the AirPods now or hold for Powerbeats Pro is seemingly easy enough. Everyone has clear advantages over each other. If you have trouble keeping your AirPods in your ears, train frequently and prefer better sound / noise isolation – Powerbeats Pro is the solution.

Otherwise, if you want a more compact package, more casual listening, prefer the case of wireless charging and want a cheaper price, opt for the AirPod.

The AirPods are already available both on Amazon and on B & H. You can also keep an eye on the AppleInsider Price Guide for the latest offers.

Powerbeats Pro will be available in black, navy blue, ivory and foam in May for $ 249.
