Less than three months after Petr Petras won the all-time world record gross total with Dan Bell wraps, Bell claimed the record in a monumental fashion at the Hybrid Showdown 3 in Miami, Fla. On the 21st. February 2021. Bell totaled 1,182.5 kilograms (2,607 pounds). He is the first athlete to achieve this total in the Raw With Wraps category.

Bell arrived at 396 pounds (180 kilograms), which placed him in the over 140 kilogram category. He opened his day with three easy back squats. The first was 465 kilograms (1,025 pounds), followed by 483 kilograms (1,065 pounds). He completed the first lift of the day by tying the world record at 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds), which frankly sounded like a representative of speed. Then it was the bench press. Again, Bell went three for three. His opener weighed 250 kilograms (551 pounds), then it rose to 267.5 kilograms (590 pounds). This second attempt went just as quickly. Bell then finished on the bench press with an easy 272.5 kilograms (600 pound press). He performed all three pushes with a false grip, which is when the athlete neglects to wrap his thumb around the bar while pushing down.

He put his bet on the world record in the first deadlift attempt, where he pulled 390 kilograms (859 pounds) fairly easily. Wanting to transfer even more weight to his freshly hit ATWR, Bell approached the bar for a second attempt, this time with 410 kilograms (904.5 pounds) on the bar. Bell stood up so quickly with the weight that he stepped with the barbell, turning it red. He did one last try on the last attempt of his day and passed it. As a result, he is now the first man to total more than 1,179 kilograms (2,600 pounds) ever in the Raw With Wraps category.

With this demonstration of powerlifting mastery, Bell now has the total Raw With Wraps and Raw in his possession again. He set the raw mark in February 2020 with a total of 1,126 kilograms (2,485 pounds), then managed to add an additional 55 kilograms to that performance a year later. Where does Bell go from here? We are not sure. But for now, the man deserves a day off.
