They meet a few pitchers, Shohei Ohtani finally stays healthy for a whole season, Mike Trout has another MVP Award winning year, then he hits a scoreless homerun to win the AL Championship Series. A Southern California series sounds like an explosion, actually.
2023: White Sox on Padres
It’s the Padres’ bad luck to be in the same division as the Dodgers, but it’s also to their eternal credit that this reality causes them to step harder on the accelerator rather than hitting the brakes. It is assumed that they are rewarded in 2023, when all the young stars reach their peak, with their first World Series appearance of the new century. Sadly, they meet a team with just as many young, culminating talents. These are the two most exciting teams in baseball in 21, imagine what they will be in 23.
2024: Padres on Red Sox

They will keep trying until they get there. Do you realize that the only teams that were in the Netherlands when the Mets last won the World Series that haven’t since won are the Pirates and Padres? Is it a race to see who gets one first? And if the Mets do it, shouldn’t it be on the Yankees?
2027: Orioles on the Giants
Looks like it’ll be around that time when these two teams reach their peak, right? Two intelligent front offices, with passionate fans deeply invested in their victory. Everyone will surely have shown progress in the years preceding this one. This is the one they finally broke.
2028: The Dodgers on the Tigers
The Dodgers haven’t been mentioned in a while, but there’s no doubt they’ll be good every year this decade. We don’t know many players who will definitely still be on the roster by then, but we do know that Mookie Betts (signed until 2032) will, which means they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
