We want to prepare you for success before entering the parlor. That is why we are holding a Fantasy Football Today Telethon on August 22 at noon, Eastern Time, at the CBS Sports Headquarters. The Fantasy Football Today team will be with you for six hours and will review everything you need to know to form the ideal team. They will be accompanied by special guests from the CBS Sports family, the Fantasy Football community and even the world of sports and entertainment. We will raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Make sure to tune your music on CBSSports.com/live!

I'm hoping that Melvin Gordon will get a contract extension or report to the shippers on time for week 1, but I'm not too optimistic as we enter the third week of pre-season.

You should not be either.

If Gordon stays away from most of the season, the Chargers have two halves to replace him at Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson. I like Jackson as a sleeper considering his average draft job on CBS Sports during the 12th day. But Ekeler is fortunate to be an outstanding candidate.

Although reports indicate that the chargers would use Ekeler and Jackson in a 50/50 split in the absence of Gordon, I'm expecting Ekeler to see more work because of his role in the game. passes. He is fortunate to be a weekly starter in PPR and a flex in non-PPR leagues.

In 2018, while separating from Gordon, Ekeler scored at least 11 PPR points in five of his first seven games. He calmed down after the Chargers' departure in the eighth week and missed two games due to a groin injury in the stretch, but he still scored at least 11 PPR points in three of his last four outings.

He looked great in the first Cardinals pre-season game with five runs for 40 yards (8.0 yards per run) and three catches for 29 yards, although he lost a fumble. After the fumble, the shippers immediately returned to Ekeler for their next ride, and it is clear that the coaching staff trusts him.

The good thing about writing Ekeler is that even if Gordon is back, he still has an independent value. I am looking for Ekeler in Series 6 in the PPR leagues and Series 7 in formats other than PPR.

And the longer Gordon stays away from the Chargers, the more likely it is that Ekeler will experience a phenomenal season in 2019. He is one of my favorite players in all leagues this year, with the other 12 guys listed here .

This is my last look at the breakaways of 2019. I've already talked about many of these guys, but I wanted to convey the message one last time: these are many of my favorite players for this year.
