The rare and friendly interaction between the two came just hours after the president blamed her on Twitter for voting to block her national emergency declaration.

"A vote in favor of today's resolution of Republican Senators is a vote for Nancy Pelosi, Crime and the Democrats at the Open Border!," wrote.

The two leaders, who are engaged in a dispute over the border wall, were reunited Thursday at the annual Friends of Ireland luncheon. They both kept their remarks free from partisan unrest and focused on celebrating "friendship" between the United States and Ireland.

"It has been said that the proper introduction for the next person I have to introduce is to keep things very simple," Pelosi said. "The proper introduction is Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States."

Trump thanked Pelosi for her "nice remarks" and congratulated her for her Irish grandchildren.

Earlier this week, they seemed to agree on the concept of impeachment, despite their marked political differences.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Pelosi said that an indictment of Trump would be a source of division for the country. It "is just not worth it," she added.

Trump later tweeted that he greatly appreciated his comments.

The kiss on the cheek is the last gesture that attracts the attention of the president and that some consider as his "foil".

The exaggerated applause of Pelosi after Trump's remarks during the state of the Union became viral and turned into a "clap-back defined by the Internet".
