You’d be forgiven if you didn’t know Dyson already has a robot vacuum in their collection. In 2014, home appliances launched the Dyson 360, its first robot vacuum, and marketed it in select countries, excluding the United States. Now, it looks like Dyson is gearing up for a robotic vacuum cleaner in the United States.
As first reported by the Edge, Dyson has filed documents with the FCC that provide insight into what may be the first Dyson robot vacuum available in the United States. The robovac appears to be called the Dyson 360 Hyperdymium, which likely means that it will be equipped with the brand’s most powerful motor, the Hyperdymium – which you’ll find in the Dyson V11 at the Dyson V15 Detect.
The 360 Hyperdymium features Dyson’s signature blue and nickel design, with the Edge noting that it is equipped with a 360-degree camera with LED lighting suitable for navigation in the dark.
As we mentioned, this isn’t Dyson’s first robot vacuum cleaner, but it could be the first for the United States. The 360 Hyperdymium follows on from the previous models, the 360 Eye and the 360 Heurist, except that it is flatter and wider. The design of these other models, the Edge explains, made them unsuitable for the typical American household, especially when it came to vacuuming under furniture.
The price of the potential robot vacuum is not certain, although the Heurist sells for £ 800 (~ $ 1,088). The new brief doesn’t guarantee Dyson will ever release the 360 Hyperdymium, let alone in the US, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for a potential release date or new details.
