Prince Charles and Camilla official Twitter account turned off comments on a post about a charity after being inundated with vitriol.

On Tuesday, the Clarence House Twitter account, which posts updates and photos on the Prince of Wales, 71, and Duchess of Cornwall, 72, shared photos of Camilla speaking to staff and residents of a UK charity for the homeless.

Unlike previous articles, the comments section has been closed. It comes after the royal couple’s social media accounts were inundated with hateful comments following the final season of ‘The Crown’.

Some of the comments were about Camilla’s appearance and teeth while someone noticed, “Money can buy you clothes and costume jewelry, but not the class, charm or magnetic presence of DIANA. You will never be able to replace it in a million years. She is our PRINCESS, now and forever!

Season 4 of the Netflix series chronicles Prince Charles’ miserable marriage to Diana and his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, who was also married at the time.

However, the acclaimed dramatization portrayed Charles and Camilla as having carried on their affair throughout his marriage to Diana. According to an authorized biography of the prince, he began his affair with Camilla in 1986, five years after his marriage.

In a 1994 interview, he admitted that he had tried to be “faithful and honorable”, but started seeing Camilla when her marriage “fell irretrievably, we both tried”.

On the latest Instagram post, which touted Camilla’s involvement in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Contest, the comments section was inundated with comments from Diana’s supporters. Many of them simply wrote, “Diana ❤️” Among Diana’s outpouring was pro-Camilla comments, with one person writing, “Everyone here realizes the Crown is fictitious, right?
