The Duke of Edinburgh spent a fifth night at King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone after being admitted on Tuesday as a “precaution”.

There is understandable concern for the 99-year-old prince as he begins his sixth day in hospital.

Buckingham Palace has not released an update on Prince Philip’s health since Friday, when a spokesperson said he was “staying in a good mood” and expected to stay in hospital until ‘See you next week.

The Duke was visited on Saturday in hospital by his son, the Prince of Wales, who traveled 200 km round trip from Gloucestershire to see his father in central London.

Prince Charles only spent around 30 minutes in hospital before returning to Highgrove House where he and the Duchess of Cornwall currently reside.

Visitors are currently prohibited from seeing relatives receiving treatment in hospital due to government guidelines.

However, one visitor per patient can be admitted, but only in “exceptional circumstances”.

Prince Philip was admitted to London hospital last Tuesday as a precaution after feeling unwell.

The Duke is under observation in hospital after being taken there from Windsor Castle.

No details on the Duke’s condition have been given although royal officials have confirmed it is unrelated to Covid.

Prince Philip was taken to King Edward VII on February 16, although news of his admission was not shared until the next day. As his hospital treatment was confirmed, Buckingham Palace said he was there to rest and be watched.
