Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly considering not releasing an official photo of Prince George to mark his birthday this year, a royal expert has claimed.
The eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be eight on July 22 next week.
The couple typically share a portrait of their children to mark special milestones, often taken by avid amateur photographer Kate.
However, royal biographer Angela Levin has suggested they may break with tradition this year due to previous online troll attacks regarding George’s appearance.

Speaking on True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat, she said: “There are rumors that we may not be seeing the photo [of Prince George] when he’s eight, because they’ve been so upset by the rudeness of people making fun of a little seven-year-old boy, and I hope they can get over that.
During the show, royal correspondent Roya Nikkah praised the Cambridges for helping their son in a life of service by getting him to watch the European Championships at Wembley.
She said the young prince’s appearance was “a very clever way” to introduce him to public service at such a young age.
“It is an official duty for Prince George at the age of seven,” Roya explained. “It’s beautiful and happy and there is a lot of emotion.
“Getting him used to big crowds and knowing he’s being watched by millions of people – that’s a pretty smart way to do it.”
During the show, royal correspondent Roya Nikkah praised the Cambridges for helping their son in a life of service by getting him to watch the European Championships at Wembley
Roya added that the queen is pleasure in returning to his official duties following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh in April.
“Anyone who knows the Queen or works with the Queen knows that it would take a little while, but not a long time, to mourn her husband,” she said.
“What we really saw from June was that she was doing a lot of activity. She was at G7. She’s getting back to business with real enthusiasm, and she looks happy again.
Ahead of the Duchess of Cornwall’s 74th birthday tomorrow, Angela recounted how Camilla has become “more and more admired by people for her hard work”.
Speaking on True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat, Angela Levin said: “There are rumors that we may not be seeing the photo [of Prince George] when he’s eight, because they’ve been so upset by the rudeness of people making fun of a little seven-year-old boy, and I hope they can get over that ‘
“Over the past few weeks she has been nonstop,” she observed. “Here is a woman who once said when she first joined the Royal Family: ‘I have a hair appointment on Monday, I won’t be able to do anything’ and now she’s working day in and day out.”
Roya added: “Over the past 10 years the public has seen how much happier she has made the Prince of Wales and also the truly impactful causes she has put her name on and followed for. [such as] sexual violence, domestic violence and children’s literacy.
“She cares about really important things, and I think people slowly saw her less as the ‘mean and cruel waiter mistress’ and more for the woman she is, who is someone who loves him. Prince of Wales and is a great companion to him.
