Prince William was mistaken for a royal intruder!

PC Jon Chandler, who is retiring from Norfolk Police, spoke of his 30 years of service with the Eastern Daily Press – including an eventful evening where her dog “went to charge after” Queen Elizabeth’s grandson at the Monarch’s Sandringham, his country estate where the royals traditionally gather for Christmas.

“I had a particularly interesting night when I was taking my dog off the leash in the park and he was chasing the future King of England,” Chandler told the store. “It was late at night and Prince William was walking towards the garages and the dog picked up his scent and went to get him.”

Fortunately, Prince William took the incident “jokingly”.

“It could have gone wrong if he had been bitten, but luckily the dog did what he was supposed to do, and just backed up and barked at him,” Chandler recalls. “It was a memorable night.”

Like many members of the royal family, Prince William, 38, is a dog lover. Sadly, he and Kate Middleton announced that they lost their family dog, a black cocker spaniel named Lupo, in November.

William and Kate first welcomed Lupo to their family in 2012, around a year before their first son, Prince George, was born. Lupo went on to star alongside George in the little royal’s third birthday portraits.

“Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away. He has been the heart of our family for nine years and will be missed so much. – W&C,” they wrote on social media.

Prince William is not the only royal who was mistaken for a stranger on an evening out. Queen Elizabeth once had a close call with a guard at Buckingham Palace who could have shot her after mistaking her for an intruder on a nighttime walk, London time reported.

When she’s having trouble sleeping, the 94-year-old royal will occasionally head outside and take a walk, according to the outlet. During one of those 3am tours of the palace walls, the patroller came across a “figure in the dark” and assumed the worst, according to the newspaper.

However, when he called to see who was there, he turned out to be the queen herself.
