The name also incorporates a tribute to Eugenie’s grandfather Prince Philip, while Hawke refers to the great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of Mr Brooksbank.

Writing on Instagram, Eugenie referred to her father Prince Andrew’s 61st birthday on Friday.

She said: ‘On his grandfather’s birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we introduce our little boy. He is named after his great-grandfather and his two great-grandfathers 5x.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words cannot express.

“We are delighted to be able to share these photos with you.”

The photos are believed to have been taken by Eugenie’s midwife in the grounds of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where the couple are staying.

Eugenie, 30, wears a £ 204 Jennifer Behr gold velvet headband, while her 34-year-old husband rocks August, who is 11th to the throne, in a blue blanket.

Sarah Ferguson said on Instagram that she and Andrew were “delighted and blessed with the arrival of our grandson… He is a beautiful blessing and a bearer of love and joy to all of our family”.
