Three regions of Illinois are now able to lift Level 3 mitigation measures in accordance with state guidelines, Governor JB Pritzker said on Friday.
These regions, which can now be upgraded to level 2, include:
Region 1: Northern Illinois (Jo Davies, Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, Dekalb, Carrol, Ogle, Whiteside, Lee, Crawford)
Region 2: North Central Illinois (Rock Island, Henry, Bureau, Putnam, Kendall, Grundy, Mercer, Knox, Henderson, Warren, McDonough, Fulton, Stark, Marshall, Peoria, Tazwell, McLean, Woodford, Livingston, Lasalle)
Region 5: Southern Illinois (Marion, Jefferson, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash, Perry, Jackson, Franklin, Williamson, Saline, Hamilton, White, Gallatin, Union, Johnson, Pope, Hardin, Alexander, Massac, Pulaski)
“Of our remaining regions, the data shows most are on track to exit Level 3 in the coming days if current trends continue,” Pritzker said Friday.
All 11 regions of Illinois have been subject to Level 3 mitigation measures since Nov. 20, suspending meals inside the state and closing museums and casinos.
The move to level 2 will mean the return of group fitness classes and sports for young people and low-risk recreational sports, and the reopening of cultural institutions like museums, with a capacity limit of 25%, between other.
According to state guidelines, a region may move to level 2 mitigation measures if it sees a test positivity rate of less than 12% for three consecutive days and more than 20% of intensive care beds and d hospitals are available, as well as the drop in COVID-19 hospitalizations in seven of the previous 10 days.
