Pro-Trump lawyer calls Mike Pence a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ only focused on 2024

Lawyer Lin Wood, who assisted President Donald Trump’s legal team in suing the 2020 presidential election results, told Parler on Wednesday that he had no confidence in the vice president Mike Pence.

As part of his role as Senate speaker, Pence is expected to chair Congress’ certification of electoral votes in January. President-elect Joe Biden won the electoral college in the November election and is widely expected to be confirmed as the next president.

Trump encouraged GOP lawmakers to challenge the electoral vote in order to overturn the election results. Some Republicans pressured Pence to reject election votes in states where the voter fraud allegedly took place. Wood expressed his distrust of Pence in a post the Parlertakes Twitter thread reposted with the caption: “Lin Wood continues his attack on everyone in the world.”

“A tough way to start the day, but the TRUTH is the TRUTH,” said Wood. “I do NOT trust VP Mike Pence. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Pence is only focused on himself and 2024. He does not support President Trump. Let Pence hear your voices and read your words. he’s not supporting Trump, his career is over. Notify him. “

Wood has served as legal counsel in several high-profile cases, representing clients such as Kenosha’s teenage shooter Kyle Rittenhouse and Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who were charged in October with unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with evidence. The McCloskeys gained notoriety after wielding guns at a Black Lives Matter protest in their neighborhood that threatened to encroach on their property.

Newsweek contacted Pence’s office for comment.

Trump has baselessly claimed that election fraud perpetrated by Democrats resulted in Biden winning the election. Several lawsuits alleging electoral manipulation have been filed by Trump’s legal team, but the majority of those lawsuits have been dismissed. As inauguration day quickly approaches, Trump has yet to concede the election to Biden.

Since all 50 states have already certified their electoral votes, Pence’s power to overrule the results is minimal. However, Texas Republican Representative Louie Gohmert filed a lawsuit against Pence on Monday, seeking to prevent Pence from declaring Biden the Electoral College winner.

Gohmert’s lawsuit alleges that Pence has “the exclusive authority and sole discretion to open and permit the counting of electoral votes for a given state.” According to the lawsuit, Pence’s declaration of Biden as the next president would be “unconstitutional.”

“Five states send two groups of voters and [Pence] must be able to determine which are based on fraud and which are not based on fraud, “Gohmert said in an interview with KLTV on Wednesday.” So that’s what we’re looking for, a statement that he can do just that. “

According to the lawsuit, Gohmert’s attorneys attempted to “resolve the underlying legal issues by agreement” with Pence before the lawsuit was filed. These attempts have “failed”.
