Procreate adds text and animation features

Savage today released a major update of the illustration app for iPad Procreate, which incorporates long-awaited features, such as the ability to add text and create animations. The update will come with standard iOS fonts, as well as three additional fonts. Artists will also be able to add their own custom fonts. The new layer export options come with an Export to GIF feature, which allows artists to create loop animations with frame rates ranging from 0.1 to 60 frames per second.

A text tool feature is a major addition that changes the game for many artists who use Procreate as the leading illustration app for iPad, especially for comic artists. Previously, users had to import text created in other applications (such as Pixelmator) as image files, or export their Procreate files and add text later. Today's update allows artists to keep their entire workflow in Procreate without having to switch between multiple applications.

This feature is also notable because many drawing applications do not include a Text tool because a text engine with several different fonts might slow down the application. The Procreate text tool allows you to manipulate text in vector format with deformation and transformation of features and rasterize when the changes are validated.

Additional features include more mixing modes and improved pressure smoothing. Layers can also be exported as PNG file folders and multiple pages of a PDF file. The update is free for existing users and Procreate is available on the App Store for $ 9.99.
