Projection of the final roster of 53 players with the workout team

[ad_1]

Before the preparatory game last week, I released my first showing with 53 players. Since then, some developments, including injuries and gaming performance, have changed the landscape of my projection. So, in anticipation of the Raiders 'final pre-game tonight against the Seahawks, this is my second and final showing of the Raiders' roster to 53 players.

Quarterback (2)

In: Derek Carr, Mike Glennon

Outside: Nathan Peterman

Remarks: Yes, we all watched Gruden praise Nathan Peterman at Hard Knock. But forgive me if it does not seem to blind him to soften the shock when he inevitably lets go.

Current (4)

InJosh Jacobs, Keith Smith (FB), Richard Jalen, DeAndre Washington

Outside: Mack Brown, James Butler and Alec Ingold

Practice Team: Alec Ingold

Injured reserve: Doug Martin

Remarks: Washington seemed to be having a tough cut or having to keep too much back at the expense of other positions. That was until Martin headed for the injured reserve. This clarifies things well.

Wide receiver (7)

In: Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, J.J. Nelson, Ryan Grant, Renfrow Hunter, Dwayne Harris, Keelan Doss

Out: Marcell Ateman, Keon Hatcher, Rico Gafford, De'Mornay Pierson-El

Practice Team: Marcell Ateman, Rico Gafford

Remarks: I would say Doss is sneaking in, but he has not snuck anywhere in the pre-season. He gave the Raiders no choice but to keep it or pass it to another team on the waiver line. Grant has also found himself in a prime position after being behind rookie Hunter Renfrow early. Now, Renfrow seems to have to go back into the offense. Seven receivers are a lot, but Harris plays with special teams, so it's more like six.

Tight end (3)

In: Darren Waller, Moreau Foster, Luke Willson

Outside: Paul Butler, Derek Carrier, Brandon Barnes

Practice Team: Paul Butler

Remarks: Willson did not do much, but neither did Carrier. And Willson is cheaper. Per million dollars.

Offensive line (8)

In: Kolton Miller, Denzelle Good, Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, Trent Brown, Jonathan Devey, Jonathan Sharpe, Jonathan Cooper

Outside: Brandon Parker, Andre James, Denver Kirkland, Justin Murray, Lester Cotton Sr., Tyler Roemer, Cameron Hunt

Suspended: Richie Incognito (2 games)

Practice Team: Brandon Parker, André James

Notes: Obviously, cutting a recent third round pick like Parker is not great. But Sharpe has always been better at all levels. This line may change a little during the first two weeks. Even if Gabe Jackson were to be part of the IR season, he should be part of the initial lineup before that can happen. Incognito does not initially count against training, but will be when he returns from suspension after the second week.

Offensive players: 24

Defensive Line (9)

In: Clelin Ferrell, Josh Mauro, Maurice Hurst, Johnathan Hankins, Corey Liuget, Maxx Crosby, Arden Key, Benson Mayowa, Anthony Rush.

Outside: Ethan Westbrooks, Alex Barrett, Quinton Bell, Gabe Wright and James Cowser

Practice Team: Quinton Bell, Gabe Wright

Commercial bait: P.J. Hall

Injured reserve: Justin Ellis, Eddie Vanderdoes

Notes: This is the most difficult area to predict. Nine players, that's a lot to keep on the list. Most of those in this scenario are defensive purposes. Anthony Rush was not planted in the preseason and Liuget seems to have a place in the roster as a recent veteran who just signed up and only came out because he was recovering from a injury. This leaves the team with difficult decisions on PJ Hall and Justin Ellis. Getting something in the trade for Hall and Ellis landing on IR could actually be the best scenario.

Seconder (7)

In: Tahir Whitehead, Burfict Vontaze, Brandon Marshall, Nicholas Morrow, Jason Cabinda, Marquel Lee and Kyle Wilber

Outside: Te'Von Coney, Koa Farmer and Bryson Allen-Williams

Practice Team: Te'Von Coney

Notes: This is, again, a lot of players to keep on the list. And honestly, I do not see this position as being settled with the initial reduction. I see them scan the override wire at this position more than anyone else to try to find upgrades at the linebacker points.

Cornerback (6)

In: Gareon Conley, Daryl Worley, Lamarcus Joyner, Trayvon Mullen, Isaiah Johnson, Keisean Nixon

Outside: Nick Nelson, Isaiah Langley, Dylan Mabin, Joshua Holsey, Markinton Dorleant

Practice TeamNick Nelson

Suspended: Nevin Lawson (4 games)

Notes: During the camp, Jon Gruden spoke to Nick Nelson. But a lot has happened since then. This unprepared rookie, Keisean Nixon, mainly locked out the receivers. If these projections materialize, Nelson would become the sixth of nine choices in the 2018 Raiders Draft for not appearing in the Raiders' 53-man roster this season (the others being Hall, Parker, Townsend, Azeem Victor and Ateman). ). Meanwhile, four unprepared recruits form the team.

Security (4)

In: Karl Joseph, Johnathan Abram, Curtis Riley and Erik Harris

Outside: Jordan Richards, Dallin Leavitt

Defensive players: 26

Specialists (3)

In: K Daniel Carlson, PA Cole, LS Trent Sieg

Team of 10 men

FB Alec Ingold

WR Rico Gafford

WR Marcell Ateman

TE Paul Butler

OT Brandon Parker

C Andre James

DT Gabe Wright

From Quinton Bell

LB Te'Von Coney

CB Nick Nelson
