Proof of Destiny 2: Season of the Wish

[ad_1]

We’re about a month away from the launch of the next Destiny 2 season, which will also come with our first real look at Bungie’s The Witch Queen expansion. But Season 15 is the key as a bridge to that point, and it also looks destined to be a lot longer than a normal season, maybe 5-6 months, considering the Witch Queen and Queen’s delay. release date unknown.

I wanted to talk about what I think is the goal for next season and why I think we are going in that direction. This is do not based on any leaked information, as I have avoided this long leaked document that keeps circulating to some extent. If there’s anything about Season 15, I haven’t heard it.

Just as I mistakenly called Season 14 Season of Glass before I got the Splicer name, I will now incorrectly call Season 15 Season of the Wish until I hear otherwise.

The 15th Vow is a key part of Destiny’s story, the final wish tied to Savathun, Riven, and the fate of the City of Dreams. And that’s where I think the focus will be this season, and not just because the numbers line up conveniently.

So, first of all, in Season of the Hunt, we got a message in Zavala’s office at the end of a bunch of Osiris messages from none other than the missing Mara Sov herself, who claims that ‘she returns. I transcribed the entire message here:

“At every corner of the system, I’ve emptied armories on the sidelines. Sent fleets of Corsair warships. Messengers deployed. And yet… the Dark Fleet persists. I know what we took from you. Petra … I’ve been away too long, and for that, I apologize. Your compassion and leadership have been a boon to me – and to our people. It all started with Dreaming City. I will come back to finish it. (sigh) Savathun will wait.

So that says a lot that Mara Sov is returning to the City of Dreams, and it seems like an event that would take place. before the Witch Queen, not during this one, while the focus will obviously be on the New Zone (currently theorized as Old Chicago). So my money is on next season.

Beyond that, the events of this season have aligned to set up a storyline that could result in the ultimate breaking of the Dreaming City Curse. Quria, the Vex Taken Mind and pet of Savathun, was responsible for the time loop aspect of the Dreaming City curse, the three week repeating cycle. In theory, with her death, this should be a big step forward in how we cleanse the dream city of the curse once and for all, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the destruction of Quria open the door to that. as the main storyline next season. . I don’t know what the “final” step would be to completely dispel the curse, but maybe this is where we’re headed.

It also makes sense to me that we are nearing a high point in Crow history. We’ve been developing his character throughout the year, Crow being estranged from the man he was, Uldren, and yet sometimes we see glimpses of his former self, which isn’t meant to happen with Guardians whose the memory is erased. So what if his long lost sister returns, the one he sold his soul for in an attempt to bring her back? It stands to reason that this could be the highlight of its one-year history.

There is one final aspect to this, the fact that it might make some logical sense that after the curse of Dreaming City is broken and the land is cleared, it might be a story reason to skip the area. , with Forsaken, Dungeon, and Raid content that is intimately tied to the Curse. We know that Something will be leaving with The Witch Queen, and it would make sense for a ‘healed’ Dream Town without Taken infestation to disappear, different from how darkness has shrouded other Vaulted Areas.

But while that makes sense for the story, I don’t think it makes sense any other way, and I stick to my prediction that the EDZ will be vaulted instead. If the Witch Queen brings Old Chicago, it overlaps too much with another area of land filled with forests. The EDZ is almost irrelevant to history now that the Red War campaign is over. And discontinued content should be made free to players for a period of time before it is completely removed, which Bungie has seemed to indicate in the past. But, it’s possible, I guess.

Anyway, that’s my theory for Season 15, Season of the Wish. I will adjust this as we learn more.
