CLEVELAND (AP) – A police official in Cleveland was charged with attempted kidnapping for attempting to attract a 12-year-old girl who was waiting for a school bus.
Solomon Nhiwatiwa, aged 34, was arrested Tuesday by Euclid police.
The court records show that Nhiwatiwa was indicted on Wednesday for attempted kidnapping, incitement to child abuse, indecent assault, obscenity involving a minor, assault and endangering children.
The Cuyahoga County District Attorney's Office announced that the August 16th meeting had begun when Nhiwatiwa asked the girl if she wanted to take a ride while she was waiting for a bus in a suburb of Cleveland.
The court records do not indicate whether Nhiwatiwa has a lawyer. He is in custody with an indictment scheduled for Monday.
A comment solicitation was left Wednesday to the president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association.
