CNN has obtained documents from a Dominican court revealing new details regarding the shooting, including the name of the person accused of having paid for the strike attempt, identified by Alberto Miguel Rodriguez Mota.

According to the indictment, Rodriguez Mota met another suspect, Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaíno, to discuss a draft of the latter a week before the murder of Ortiz.

Perez Vizcaíno was the interlocutor of Rodriguez Mota and another suspect accused of helping to orchestrate the hit of a Dominican prison, known as Jose Eduardo Ciprián. According to court documents, Ciprián and Carlos Alvarez contributed to the coordination of the shooting and paid a payment of $ 7,800 to the future imprisoned killers.

On the day of the shooting, Ciprián reportedly sent Ortiz a photo of his prison cell to Perez Vizcaíno.

Perez Vizcaíno then met a "criminal group" at a gas station to show them the picture of the person to be "liquidated", according to the indictment.

According to Jose Hoopelman, David Ortiz's lawyer, on Monday, Perez Vizcaíno was sentenced to one year of pre-trial detention during a hearing.

It is unclear why Rodriguez Mota would have paid nearly $ 8,000 to kill Ortiz or he was acting on the order of someone else.

Rodriguez Mota is the last suspect identified in a massive investigation that rocked the Dominican Republic.

Ortiz was sitting on a crowded bar patio in Santo Domingo the night of June 10 when an armed man came in, took out a 9mm Browning Hi-Power and shot him once in the bottom of back.

Up to now, 10 suspects are in detention and face charges.

Several of them denied their involvement, with masked police officers summoning them to court for a hearing on Friday. At the hearing, a judge ordered nine of the suspects to remain in prison for at least one year pending trial.
