Prosecutors Refuse to Charge Dodgers Urias

The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced Monday that it would not file any lawsuit against Julio Urias, the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, because of his arrest for domestic violence on May 13, as long as 39, it fulfills several conditions.

Urias, 22, was arrested on May 13 after an altercation with a woman in the parking lot of a Los Angeles mall. He will not be prosecuted until he takes part in a 52-week national council program and will not commit any acts of violence in the coming year, said the city's attorney.

Urias could still face disciplinary action from Major League Baseball, who was investigating the incident.

The city's attorney said the lawsuits were suspended because Urias had no criminal behavior and that incident had resulted in no physical injury. The woman involved in the altercation did not tell the police or witnesses that she thought she was a victim.

After Urias 'arrest, the MLB and the MLB Players' Association decided to put him on paid administrative leave on May 14, until the league reviewed the video of the incident, sources said. Jeff Passan of ESPN. Shopping center officials in possession of the video refused to give it to the MLB, said Passan, and Urias was reinstated on May 21. At that time, the league's investigation into the incident remained open.

Since his reinstatement, Urias has made three appearances for the Dodgers.

Alden Gonzalez of ESPN contributed to this report.
