Sony has established clear models when it comes to Playstation plus subscription service, revealing new free games on the last Wednesday of each month and adding the next bundle on the first Tuesday of each month. Since the launch of the PlayStation 5, PS Plus typically consists of two free PS4 games and one free PS5 game in any given month, with a few exceptions. However, some PlayStation Plus subscribers see an additional free game listed in PlayStation Store, although they may not be able to claim it.

Some PlayStation Plus subscribers have reported seeing Tony Hawk Professional Skater 1 + 2 listed as one of the free PS Plus games on PlayStation Store. However, when they try to claim Tony Hawk Professional Skater 1 + 2 for free, they are asked to pay as they normally would. This is a bug that pops up from time to time on the PlayStation Store and while it is generally not indicative of future free-to-play games, fans are speculating.

A few months ago there was a rumor about Tony Hawk Professional Skater 1 + 2 being a free-to-play PS Plus game, although it turned out that there was no truth to these claims. However, Sony and Activision have a strong working relationship, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy available on the PS5 as part of the PS Plus collection, and other Activision games made available for free on PS Plus over the years.

In fact, PlayStation Plus has benefited from several Call of Duty games as gifts, which is important because Call of Duty is consistently the best-selling game each year. More recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was a free-to-play PS Plus game, and considering the history of the Activision titles available for free through PS Plus, it’s easy to believe that Tony Hawk Professional Skater 1 + 2 could be a possibility at some point.

It doesn’t matter whether or not Tony Hawk Professional Skater 1 + 2 is never made free through PS Plus, however, this bug is not proof in its favor. It’s just a random bug that sometimes happens with PlayStation Store listings, and it will likely happen again.

In the meantime, the real free PS Plus games from September 2021 are currently available for fans to claim their collection. They are Overcooked: all you can eat on PS5, and Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting grounds on PS4.
