The PlayStation Network is proving to be a huge success for Sony, which has quietly built a considerable user base on the PS4.

And a new update this week suggests that the PSN and PS Plus subscription service continue to gain popularity among PlayStation Store users.

As fans already know, every month a new list of free downloads made available by Sony PlayStation, as part of a PS Plus subscription.

This is one of the PlayStation Network's key pieces and a significant source of revenue for Sony PlayStation.

This not only allows the company to get a stable monthly income from its console users, but also offers a good amount of free advertising.

And it has recently been revealed that the PSN has been gaining momentum for active users.

Sony has now confirmed that more than 94 million active users were using play time on the PlayStation Network.

Using combined numbers such as PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, it seems that the tech giant has found a winning formula for its Store and UI ecosystem.

According to the latest figures released by Sony, more than 90% of the consoles have already connected in the last 12 months.

It was also revealed that players were using the PS4 console more than 21 hours per week on average.

And how did this affect the consumer spending of the players? Well, Sony estimates that it reached more than 20 billion dollars for the first time in 2018.

This suggests an impressive lifetime expense for those who have remained loyal to the PlayStation brand of consoles and have used the PSN consistently over the past two years.

These figures show the importance of PSN and why Sony insists so much on the importance of products like PS Plus every month.

The players certainly stick to the PS Plus subscription service in 2019, with more than 30 million people using it to play multiplayer online and claim free PS4 games.

And it will not be long before the next harvest of free titles is published on the PlayStation Store.

It would be interesting to know if these events and these monthly launches create a spike in PSN interactions on the consoles.

One would think that downloading a free PS4 game would mean less browsing the PS Store, but giving fans a reason to turn on and check each month is probably a significant traffic factor.

As mentioned above, the PS Plus free games of June 2019 have already been confirmed as including two titles for the PlayStation 4.

Starting Tuesday, June 4, PS Plus subscribers will be able to download and play Sonic Mania and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.

The Handsome Collection contains two games. Players will have three different titles to play in June.

The Borderlands bundle includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, as well as all the DLC content associated with both games.

An added bonus is that if you play one or the other titles on PS3, your game backup would be postponed.

Anyone who has not yet entered them, Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch can be downloaded before the big update of the PlayStation Store.

Fans will also want to monitor in June 2019 all important information regarding the new demos and essays published on the PS4 and the PlayStation Store.
