The PS5 recently received a big firmware update which, among other things, added the ability to expand system storage. Some experts now claim that the new software also improves the performance of some games.
In Digital Foundry Direct’s latest weekly show, the team analyzed the differences between the performance of the PS5 on new and old firmware. “In very selected scenarios, it seems that [all] The PlayStation 5s run faster than before with this new firmware, ”said Richard Leadbetter of Digital Foundry.
He went on to explain that the performance differences are very minor. The new firmware made some games, Control and Devil May Cry 5, run about 2-3% faster than the old firmware. This led to an increase in framerate, only around 1 to 2 FPS.
