Best Buy is reportedly preparing to sell PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles in stores for the first time this year.
According to internal inventory screens shared with TechRadar, the retailer will have a limited number of the two consoles available for purchase physically this Thursday, September 23.
A number of Best Buy stores are expected to have more than 50 consoles of each console, and many more will likely be on sale at outlets in major metropolitan areas.
While the method of selling consoles has yet to be confirmed, the selling process is expected to work the same way Best Buy restocked Nvidia GPU cards this summer.
If this turns out to be correct, Best Buy officials will hand out paper tickets to queued customers from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. local time before stores open.
Some consoles can also be sold online, with Best Buy offering same-day pickup in-store or curbside.
Sony claimed in July that the PS5 had become its best-selling console after surpassing 10 million worldwide sales.

The console hit the milestone in mid-July, roughly eight months after launching in November 2020, and just under a month faster than the managed PS4.
Microsoft also claimed in July that the Xbox Series X / S, which also launched in November 2020, is the company’s best-selling console.
“The Xbox Series S and X are our best-selling consoles to date with more consoles sold to date than any previous generation,” said CEO Satya Nadella.
